One of my favorite Christmas traditions that we will carry on is balloons. My parents always had bunches of red and green balloons all over the living room on Christmas morning. Even the years when there were not a lot of presents under the tree, the room felt completely transformed for Christmas.
A small little note if you decide to try this tradition: ask for high fly in your balloons on Christmas Eve or you will have balloons sagging halfway to the floor for Christmas morning, we know this from experience. Or you can just use a disposable helium tank.
We put the Christmas decorations up one night while Ellie was asleep. This is a shot of her the next morning. She kept waving her arms and squealing in excitement over all the lights. This lasted for about 30 minutes. It was amazing.
Ellie wasn't to excited but we were glad to get everyone together.
Today in school we made our time traveling helmets. Every time we study history we put on our pretend time travelers helmets and press the button to travel wherever we're studying. (Sometimes the girls get lost and end up in Disney World!) We finally actually made the helmets... and of course, Ellie could not be left behind.
A family tradition that dates back to my first few years of life are these place cards.
The McKelvy girls have taken over the decorating. Every year everyone writes a note inside saying what they are thankful for about that person. It's a wonderful thing to save throughout the years.
We had a wonderful time in Nashville for Thanksgiving! We had 17 people staying at the McKelvy House and somewhere around 35 people for Thanksgiving. It was a blast!
I have never heard of a four month old who loves to read, but Ellie does. Anytime you get a book out, no matter what it is, she loves it.
